Typically means fabric off the bolt or sold by the yard.

The amount of selvedge you have. So if you order a yard off a bolt, the length is 1 yard.

The size and density of the pattern on any given fabric.
Think monochromatic, marbled, or tone on tone patterns.
Special dye technique utilizing wax resistance methods.
